this is a story about space, and also a lie.
he shifted nervously and looked up at her, though she was not taller than he.
"i understand you need some time, and i'm beginning to understand what you mean by needing space. but this is not the -end- end, right?"
there was an upward, pathetically hopeful lilt in his voice. she couldn't look back at him for fear of seeing exactly what such a sorry sound would look like.
"uh. no, no. i just need some breathing room that's all. i'll call you."
they hugged awkwardly, and then she strapped on her rocket pack 3000 and blasted up past the stratosphere into the icy and sparkling void that lay beyond.
