Emma Goldman took up a lot of space. She was a big woman, she was loud, and what she loved most was arguing people to a standstill. Her autobiography is mostly a collection of one-liners, none of them as stunning or clever as she undoubtedly believed. It wouldnt have made any difference what political system she advocated-she just wanted to make a lot of noise. Though I disliked both her ideas and her methods, I admired her, wrote Margaret Sanger. She was really like a spring house-cleaning to the sloppy thinking of the average American.
