Jersey rode the train for 48 hour from St. Paul to Albuquerque with a switch in Chicago. In Albuquerque she was met by a van from Blossoms of Bliss Retreat that drove her and three others to Santa Fe where they left the main road and drove for an additional two hours down a dusty road so bumpy that by the time they arrived at the conglomeration of tee-pees and patchwork casitas all Jersey could think about was finding a bathroom. As it turns out, the bathroom was an outhouse closer than she would have liked to Experience your Fear, a chickenwire enclosure containing one bench and several angry rattlesnakes.
She'd chosen Blossoms of Bliss for it's reasonable prices from a listing of Convents, Monasterys, and Retreats in the back of Special Spirits magazine. She was beginning to doubt her choice. "I don't think this is the right place for me," Jersey told Lord Max, the resident spiritual leader, "I'm thinking maybe I need to go home." "Wait," said Lord Max clapping his eyes shut, "I'm receiving." Lord Max channeled a spirit named Goosegirl. "Three days and three nights in Experience your Boredom," he intoned in a whiny high-pitched whisper.
Five minutes after lights out Jersey was walking on the dusty road back towards Santa Fe. "Experience your Boredom," she muttered, "Fuck you Goosegirl."
